What is the cross country world cup ?

First of all, the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup is an international cross-country skiing competition, organised since 1981 by the FIS. Through several stages in different countries during the winter season, competitors accumulate points, based on their performances, which determine their overall ranking.

This competition has existed since the 1970s. It was not until 1981-1982 that the International Ski Federation decided to take over the organisation of this event and give it official status. In addition, they are contested in both styles of cross-country skiing: free style and classic style.
